Subject: Assistance
I just received notice that a very dear friend of mine, Jan (Ryder) Brown passed away on September 16th, 2008 in I believe Felixstowe approximately 49 years of age. I have been trying to research the local papers but was unable to locate any information. I was in the Air Force during 1975 through 1977 and we had become very close and have kept in contact since I returned to the USA.
I understand that her service will be held on today, Tuesday September 30th and regrettably, I do not have a passport or I would be attending. Not sure if the service is in Felixstowe, Ipswich or somewhere else.
I would very much appreciate any information which you could provide or where I could research her death online. This would mean a great deal to me if you could provide some information or assistance.
Thank you so very much. This would really mean a lot to me.

I have been trying to locate some local friends in Leiston England for along time. I finally came across this site and saw Bentwaters and Woodbridge. My Dad was stationed at Bentwaters between 1968-1971. We lived near leiston.i'm having a heck of a hard time locating exactly where the farm was that we lived at for almost four years. I lived there between the ages of 10-13.5. The road I took to my bus stop is unknown to me but our farm house had a long dirt road, we would then hit onto a paved road and walk to a fork in the road and at this fork, you could go to Leiston. This fork in the road is where our bus would take us to Bentwaters to attend school. I know, a little info. but it's all I have and would love to know if someone out there knows where this is. I'm sure someone from Leiston would surely know. It was a very special place in my life. I'm now 50 and have some time to gather info. I hope to return for a visit. Any info will help. Thank You so much!

I enjoyed your site very much. I was Vice Comander of the 81st at RAF Bentwaters 1954-1957 and we lived in the Corner House in Aldeburgh for the first two years and then moved in to "Tobacco Housing" at Bentwaters for the last year. We remember Dr. Nora well as she used to take care of our kids when we lived in Aldeburgh. She always enjoyed a touch of sherry afterward. Many of the pictures look the same now as they did in 1954.

It was the best time of our lives! I have 'found' a few of my friends from back then and we all agree on that. We got to live in the Crown Hotel for a while and then we lived at a house on the beach in Aldeburgh until our base housing was ready. A couple of my friends and I (12 at the time) took the train into London by ourselves and spent the day at the museums and Carnaby Street and Madame Tussaud's. We were treated like royalty by all the Londoners we met. I could write forever about those years - every moment was perfect.
If anyone from those times wants to get in touch, please write to me: mgkamish at yahoo.com. I'd love to keep in touch.
