Police Towntalk April 2007

Time for change, and it’s not just the clocks and the seasons!

March 19th saw the introduction throughout the Constabulary of Safer Neighbourhood Teams, or SNTs. The Government promised all local communities would have a local Safer Neighbourhood Team by 2008.

These teams will address issues affecting quality of life and feelings of safety. This means that the Woodbridge Policing Sector has been broken down into four SNTs. The Woodbridge and Melton SNT is responsible for the town of Woodbridge (the wards of Kyson, Seckford, Farlingaye and Riverside) and the parishes of Melton, Ufford and Pettistree.

Each SNT will be headed up by a sergeant and will consist of regular police officers, police community support officers, members of the special constabulary and support staff. We will be working with other team members such as youth workers, housing associations and anti-social behaviour co-ordinators to identify and tackle problems which have been raised by the local community.

Our SNT members are:
PS Christopher Gilmore
PC Karle Howard
PC Mark Thompson
PC Lisa Vaughan
PCSO Amy Cowan
PCSO Marie Smith
PCSO Graham Hawkes.

One of the main aims is to listen to and work with the local community in order to solve problems - it is your opportunity to influence the service provided by police and other organisations. Safer Neighbourhood Teams give you the opportunity to get actively involved in improving the quality of life in your neighbourhood.

Depending on where you live, you could:
